Week 2 : Stairs for Sketchup model

Client 1: Staircase for Khyzyl Saleem - 'Linear'

By having multiple linear platforms for the above space for the different uses needed, the aim of the stairs was to create a light linear form of multiple steps from the above space down to the showroom. The steps have a ramp in the middle for the cars, and it was extruded in angles bringing the users to the different levels.


Client 2: Staircase for Audrey Allen & Ashton Cameron - 'Radiating'

The below space has many sharp edges that protrude out from the ground to the showroom, having 2 of the edges becoming stairs for the users. The steps are irregular in shape, making it seem to 'radiate' out from the structure of the stairs. Being irregular, it allows users to use it as a sitting space to have a look at the jewelry makers at work.

Sketchup Model Images

The 2 images from sketchup were based on my sketched section using the 2 words, Linear and Radiating. The term 'Linear' from the client Khyzl Saleem, and the word 'Radiating' from the client, Mountain & Moon. The choice of materials are concrete, steel, stone and glass.

Introduction

A Creative Work

Above is my final model INTERLINK, based on one of my first year modules, FORM & SPACE EXPLORATION. I had to use a household object as an inspiration and to dissect and transform it into a new creative piece. The object I chose was a telephone, and the layout of the form began as having the 2 phones apart from each other, and the other small parts in between, having the wires inside connecting the parts to each other to make up the telephone. The overall concept of the model was to create the covered walkways connecting the covered building, which represents the wires connecting the parts to each other.

A Great Piece of Architecture
                                          

The INTERLACE is a residential condominium located in Singapore, consisting of blocks of living spaces placed and stacked atop of each other, thereby creating living and social spaces along with the landscape. The blocks of living spaces, are rotated to allow a mixture of shared private and outdoor spaces on the different levels, taking in mind the position of the sun, wind and the other environmental conditions.

A picture of a sunset that I took while at Germany. We were out on the range doing training while doing my national service and it was winter at the time. While we all waiting to get back to camp due to the freezing weather, the sunset appeared while overlooking the vast horizon though the range, giving it this beautiful array of colours on it, having the sun's reflection on it.
